Current Superintendent Jere Hochman is the sole finalist for another position, and if appointed there, will be leaving after five years of outstanding service to the district. Should this occur, the Committee will conduct a search in the fall to replace him, but in the meantime will begin a search for an Interim Superintendent to serve for one year.

Five of these members also serve on a separate elementary School Committee serving schools in the town of Amherst. Another three-member School Committee governs the Pelham Elementary School. Elementary committees meet monthly during the school year, and the Regional Committee meets twice a month, year-round.

The Superintendent’s office is staffed with an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent. The district’s leadership team includes a Project Director and Directors for Student Services, Curriculum and Program Development, Technology, Finance and Operations, Human Resources, and Facilities and Maintenance.

Qualifications
• Current certification as a Superintendent of Schools in Massachusetts
• Current knowledge of laws and regulations that impact education in Massachusetts
• Many years of successful administrative experience, including leadership in diverse communities
• A commitment to academically challenge and support children of all racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds and abilities.

Desired Qualities
• A collaborative leadership style enabling effective communication and delegation of authority
• Skill and successful experience in personnel relations and collective bargaining
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction; competency in fiscal management; skill in systems design

An initial application will include the following:

1. A letter of interest in this position, citing qualifications and how the applicant would address specific initiatives cited above in support of the districts’ mission “Every student. Every day.”
2. A current, detailed resume.
3. References from other districts, if any, where previously employed on an interim basis.
4. Verification of certification as a Superintendent in Massachusetts.

The Hanson Initiative for Language & Literacy at the MGH Institute of Health Professions invites applications for the position of Early Literacy Facilitator. Specific duties will include but are not limited to the following: provide mentoring for the Program Developer/Coach to support the development of effective coaching strategies used to assist classroom teachers and paraprofessionals as they implement evidence-based language and literacy instructional practices; serve as expert teacher of early childhood literacy to model effective strategies for classroom teachers; support the coaching of teachers throughout the assessment process; and meet regularly with schools and administrators to review progress.

The HILL works with schools and educators in districts to develop sustainable literacy programs for all students. Literacy improvement begins with the classroom teacher. And literacy instruction improvement is the first critical step in achieving school-wide literacy improvement.
